Location: A.S. Fortuna Street, Banilad, Mandaue City

Specialty: Teppanyaki

Are you looking for a Japanese restaurant that will give you a unique dining experience?  Mismukuno Teppanyaki is probably the only authentic Teppanyaki place in Cebu. The teppanyaki is cooked in front of the diners like it supposed to be. You can see how your order is prepared right in front of you. You can have either the pork, chicken or beef teppanyaki. A teppanyaki order comes with bean sprouts and cabbage as well as an unlimited serving of miso soup. They also have other grilled specialties like salmon, mixed seafood, prawns, lobster, and even yakisoba. Rice can either be plain or Yaki Meshi.  This place is owned by the same people that manages Mooon Cafe and Lantaw Restaurants.  Check it out and don’t forget to print your smart phones. 😉

How to get there: From Cebu City, just traverse Archbishop Reyes and Banilad Road to reach A.S. Fortuna. Turn left and make a U-Turn near BPI A.S. Fortuna. It will just be around 20 meters after making U-Turn. It is near Alberto’s Pizza.

Former Miss Mandaue loses leg after a nasty vehicular accident

24 Feb

2010 Miss Mandaue Karina Gajudo lost her leg after the Mazda that she was riding slammed into the wall of a flyover in Banilad, Cebu City. The 21- year old beauty pageant titlist was riding with 19 year old Junichi Jose Dizon Kuribayashi.  Both are residents Talamban, Cebu City.  The accident happened at 4 a.m. Saturday.  Gajudo was apparently thrown out of the car because of the intensity of the impact when car hit the wall. The car was turned upside down and it also hit a signage. The Mazda 2 was totally wrecked while both passengers were taken to different hospitals.

The police were asked by the Gajudo family to retrieve Karina’s leg a few hours after the accident.  The incident caused a minor traffic jam in the area as motorists cannot help but pause and look at the wrecked remains of the car. The police have not yet determined who was driving the car when the accident happened but some investigators believe that Kuribayashi was the one driving as they found his driver’s license inside the car.

Food Trip: Pizzarea Michelangelo

16 Sep
Let’s just say you love pizza and you want to take a girl for a nice date, where will you go? For me, one great option would be Pizzarea Michelangelo. The restaurant is located in #1 Paseo Saturnino, Old Maria Luisa Road in Banilad and it serves authentic pasta, pizza, and other Italian favorites.

I once took my wife there for our anniversary and boy she loved it there. For people who like eating pasta, the list is long that you might end up ordering 2. The pasta is al dente and the pasta sauces are truly Italian. The pizza is very  delicious and the size is good for 3 or 4 (maybe 2 since the pizza is really yummy).

Michelangelo is a premium place so prepare to pay up, although a budget of 1,000 can go a long way. The restaurant is clean , the service fast, and it really is a good place for a date. You may go there earlier since seats will be scarce if you come at their peak hours.
You may also call 236-4301 if you want to reserve some seats. Buon appetito!!!

BOPK council solid for now: Young

The Bando Osmena-Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) bloc in the Cebu City council remains intact for now according to the belief of Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young. There were talks that as many as 4 councilors are bolting the group founded by former mayor Tomas Osmena to start an opposing group with incumbent mayor Mike Rama. Mayor Rama recently declared himself out of the mighty BOPK.

Congressman Osmena hosted a dinner last Sunday with the city council save for Councilor Edu Rama who happens to be a nephew of the present mayor.  Young said that it was just right that Councilor Rama was not invited so that he will not be put in a very awkward position. Congressman Osmena clarified that the dinner was not a loyalty check but more of a discussion on the issues in city  like the Ciudad development in Banilad.  He also added that anybody can  leave the BOPK especially if the member does not believe its policies and principles.  So far, no councilor has openly declared on leaving the BOPK.

caloycomment: Hopefully this Mayor vs. council conflict will not adversely affect government services.  It would be tough to advance meaningful bills and developments if political instability is present. There are no major delays in public service but many people in the City Hall are tip-toeing and watchful on the next moves of both sides.  I expect a lot of changes by the end of this month.

BOPK virtually ruled the 2010 Barangay elections here in Cebu City.  The allies of the party founded by Congressman Tomas Osmena have a formidable lead against their respective opponents. Among these soon-to-be elected BOPK-supported captains are Apas Barangay Captain Ramil Ayuman, Nicolas Leyson of Banilad, David Tumulak of Basak-Pardo, Omar Durano of Cogon-Ramos, Elmer Abella of Duljo-Fatima, Petronilo Fat of Hipodromo, Nunilo Monares, Jr. of Kalunasan, Fritz Herra of Lorega-San Miguel, Jinggoy Reformina of Zapatera, Eliodoro Sanchez of Busay and Michael Gacasan of Guadalupe.  Michael Gacasan is leading Dino Faelnar, the son of the former Guadalupe Barangay Captain Jing Jing Faelnar.  Osmena decided to support Gacasan after fallout with his ex-ally Faelnar over some construction projects.
